Rangers Win Game 1 in The Capital

Rangers 4 - Capitals 3 [Boxscore]
Rangers Lead Series 1-0

The Rangers went into the Nation's capital and came away with a huge win. The win was huge because not only did they take the first game of the series away from home, but the Rangers won the game despite the fact that they gave up three goals. New York also won the game without Captain Invisible (Drury) who really was invisible tonight, opting to sit out for game one after coming out for the pre-game skate (more on that later).

It was a great all around team effort, and honestly when they blew a 3-1 lead I thought that the Rangers had blown their shot at taking the series lead. Ovechkin was good (13 shots!) but he didn't get a goal (h! e was in on a few of the goals though). Despite giving up 3 goals, Lundqvist made several awesome saves. The game winning goal came off the stick of Brandon Dubinsky who completly undressed Washington defenseman Jeff Schultz before firing it past Jose Theodore.

The Rangers also got goals from Antropov, Gomez and Naslund. Not only did the Rangers score four goals, but two of them came on the power play.

As for Chris Drury, I really have to wonder what is possibly wrong with him. He was able to participate in a full practice yesterday and come out for the pre-game skate. If you are the Captain, you don't miss a playoff game unless there is something seriously wrong. I don't know what is wrong with Drury or how serious that injury of his is, but I'm definitely thinking that it must be more serious than the Rangers or letting on. Or, well...after a Rangers victory I'd rather not start questioning Drury's decision not to play.

As I already said, ! a huge win for the Rangers tonight in Washington. A big game o! n Saturd ay afternoon again at the Verizon Center, but worst case scenario the Rangers come back to the Garden on Monday night for what will be a crazy atmosphere at MSG with the series tied at one. Let's hope they come back up two games!
